Answer 01

We think we have a script. What happens if the real story isn't there yet?

Usually, the story is already there—even when the current script has not found it yet. HumanMedia treats the script as valuable source material: evidence of what the team wants to say, what has already been decided, and where the language may still be doing too much work. We do not discard it for sport, and we do not assume it is untouchable.

The larger story lives inside the founder's vision, the company's culture, the language customers use, and the assumptions the wider world has already formed about the brand. The work is not to invent a personality and lay it over the company. It is to listen until the real pattern becomes visible.

HumanMedia begins with a conversation. Samuel asks the people closest to the work to tell the story in their own terms—not to perform the polished presentation again. The useful material often appears in an aside, a frustration, a customer story, a repeated phrase or the moment somebody becomes suddenly specific. That natural language reveals what the company protects, what it believes and what it wants the audience to understand.

Research then tests that instinct against the customer, category, competitors and culture surrounding the brand. The story may lead us back to a sharper version of the original script, or it may reveal that the assignment needs a different frame. Sometimes the result is a larger brand story. Sometimes it is simply the right angle for this particular moment. The goal is not strategy for its own sake. It is to find the story that is already true, make it clear, and give it a form people can see and feel.
