01 / Cast
Four distinct ways to explore.
A curious kangaroo, an easygoing koala, a button-loving galah and an elegant emu create immediate personality and ensemble chemistry.
Joey Club / Independent speculative concept
Joey Club Adventures imagines a cast of Australian animal characters turning the first nonstop Sydney–London flight into the beginning of a larger story world for young travelers.
Concept status
This was an independently developed, unsolicited HumanMedia concept. It was not commissioned by, produced for, endorsed by, or affiliated with Qantas.
What our lens uncovered
The historic route spoke to adults. The open opportunity was the smallest passenger: turn a very long flight into the start of an adventure.
01 / The opportunity
The concept began with a personal memory: a first Qantas flight at fourteen and an unexpected visit to the cockpit that changed how the world looked.
Joey Club turns that kind of formative moment into a repeatable story system—one that can live in the seatback, at the gate and across every destination.

02 / The creative decision
The length of the journey becomes the format rather than the problem. First-flight nerves, unfamiliar food, a new place to sleep and the view outside the window all become gentle story material.
The Joey Club goes first, so kids feel brave.
03 / Building the world
01 / Cast
A curious kangaroo, an easygoing koala, a button-loving galah and an elegant emu create immediate personality and ensemble chemistry.
02 / Reassure
Nothing truly bad happens. Small worries become manageable adventures, and courage is never far away.
03 / Expand
The format can scale from short onboard moments to complete stories across Sydney, London and every route beyond.

04 / Visual Intelligence
The record flight becomes a cultural moment children can feel belongs to them too.
Warm, curious and unmistakably Australian without turning into tourism shorthand.
One great travel moment at the right age can build a lifelong relationship with the world.
Gentle enough for first-flight nerves; adventurous enough to make the journey feel enormous.
Tactile characters, cabin discoveries and a sunrise seen twice give the story wonder and specificity.
A consistent ensemble, material language and golden flight world make the concept immediately recognizable.
05 / The role of AI
AI helped move the concept from deck language into a cinematic trailer. Locked character traits, cabin details and a controlled sunrise palette held the world together while editing, voice and sound gave the journey its human rhythm.
06 / What the concept proves
The speculative exercise produced a finished concept trailer, a four-character ensemble and an episodic system that could extend across destinations, durations and moments in the travel experience.
Deeper questions
No. HumanMedia developed it independently as a speculative creative exercise. Qantas did not commission, produce, endorse or participate in the concept.
Because it demonstrates the thinking as clearly as commissioned work: find an overlooked audience, build a precise creative proposition and prove it through a complete filmable world.
Characters can turn one campaign moment into a reusable relationship. Each destination becomes an episode, and each part of the journey becomes a place for a small story.
